How to split a PDF without uploading it

A long PDF often contains only a few pages you need to send. You can extract those pages without giving a website a copy of the whole document. TypeMaster reads the file inside your browser and builds the download on your device. There is no account to create.

Extract pages from PDF

Keep your original file. The splitter creates a separate copy and does not overwrite it. Page numbers refer to positions in the PDF, starting at 1; printed page labels may differ if the document starts with a cover or an unnumbered introduction.

  1. Choose your PDF. Open the splitter and pick or drop one unencrypted PDF. The limit is 300 pages and 100 MB. Thumbnails appear as you scroll.
  2. Select the pages. All pages start selected. Clear the selection, then click the pages you want. Shift-click adds the pages between your last click and the new one.
  3. Choose the output. Use Extract selected pages for one document. Use a range or a fixed group size when you need several separate files.
  4. Download and check. Open the saved PDF and check its first page, last page, page count and orientation before sharing it. For a ZIP, unpack it and review each PDF.

Split PDF by page range

Ranges save time when you know the page positions. Enter 1-3, 5, 8- to select pages 1 through 3, page 5, and page 8 through the end. In Extract selected pages mode, press Apply ranges before downloading. Selected pages appear once, in their original order.

Choose One PDF per range to make a ZIP instead. Each comma-separated range becomes its own PDF, in the order you typed it. For example, 1-2, 3-6 produces two files. Overlapping ranges intentionally repeat their shared pages in separate documents.

Split PDF every N pages

For regular groups, choose Split every N pages and enter a positive whole number. A ten-page document split every three pages produces four PDFs: pages 1–3, 4–6, 7–9 and 10. The last group can be shorter. Download the ZIP to keep the parts together; numbered filenames preserve their order.

Split PDF without uploading: how to check

The file picker gives this page access to the file you choose. A browser worker reads its bytes locally, copies the requested pages and creates a download. Preview images are temporary browser objects. No PDF bytes, filenames or document text go into analytics; tool events contain only the tool, mode and page count.

To check, open your browser’s developer tools and select Network before choosing a harmless test PDF. Clear the request list, select the file and split it. Inspect request methods, payloads and sizes: there should be no request carrying the PDF or its contents. Requests for application scripts and the preview worker are downloads needed to run the tool.

For an additional check, finish loading the previews and make one download, then switch the Network panel to Offline and repeat. Local extraction should still work. Reloading the site offline is a different test and may fail because the page itself is not cached.

Before you share the result

Password-protected and encrypted PDFs are refused. Unlock a copy in a trusted PDF application first. Splitting removes digital signatures, so retain the signed original. Extraction is not redaction: inspect visible content, annotations and document properties before sharing sensitive information. Use Merge PDF if you need to combine the parts again.
